The class was very curious last week when a small container of 75 e
arthworms arrived in room. Although everyone was anxious to observe them, the instructions enclosed told us to mix one bag of soil with one pound of fruit peels and place everything, including the earthworms, in a plastic terrarium and cover with a paper bag for four days. Our terrarium seemed almost forgotten until this afternoon when our scientific investigation began. After watching a brief presentation about the anatomy of an earthworm, each pair of students busily studied an individual worm and tested its sensitivity to light and dark as well as to water. We had a lot of fun and look forward to future investigations.
